Wildland Instructor Application

BoCoFire is seeking LEAD and UNIT instructors for our NWCG wildland courses. Please review responsibilities and qualifications below, then select which course(s) you would like to teach. BoCoFire's Training Chief will manage all course administration, including scheduling, announcements, student registration, billing, course materials, certificates, etc.

We now offer OPTIONAL stipends based on course-specific classroom hours... $37/hr Lead and $33.50/hr Unit.
Lead Instructor Responsibilities

- Coordinate course planning efforts with the Course Coordinator.
- Provide leadership to the instructor cadre.
- Oversee the entire presentation of the course.
- Provide students an organized and professional training experience.
- Ensure the course objectives are achieved.
Unit Instructor Responsibilities

- Assist the Lead Instructor and fellow instructor cadre members.
- Provide students organized and professional training experience.
- Ensure the course objectives are achieved.
Course-Specific Instructor Qualifications

L-280 Followership to Leadership
- Lead: Any Single Resource Boss
- Unit: Must have a supervisory qualification in any ICS function (operations or support)

S-112 Introduction to Chainsaw Operations
- Lead: FAL2
- Unit: FAL3

S-130 Firefighter Training
- Lead: Any Single Resource Boss
- Unit: FFT1

S-131 Firefighter Type 1/Squad Boss
- Lead: Any Single Resource Boss
- Unit: FFT1

S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
- Lead: Any Single Resource Boss
- Unit: FFT1

S-211 Portable Pumps and Water Use
- Must be knowledgeable in the use and maintenance of portable water pumps
- Hydraulics unit requires competency in that subject matter

S-212 Wildland Fire Chainsaws
- Instructor qualifications are agency-determined

S-215 Fire Operations in the Wildland Urban Interface
- Lead: ICT3, TFLD, or DIVS
- Unit: ICT4 or any Strike Team Leader
- Cadre should include representatives from both structure and wildland fire disciplines

S-219 Firing Operations
- Lead and Unit: FIRB

S-230 Crew Boss
- Lead: Any Strike Team Leader or TFLD
- Unit: Any Single Resource Boss

S-231 Engine Boss
- Lead: STEN or TFLD
- Unit: ENGB

S-270 Basic Air Operations
- Must be knowledgeable in the use of aviation resources in wildland fire suppression, agency aviation policy, and Federal Aviation Regulations

S-271 Helicopter Crewmember
- Lead: HMGB
- Unit: HECM

S-290 Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
- Lead: Any Single Resource Boss
- Unit: FFT1
